Yes, derma+flex® QS ™ is non-toxic and biocompatible with skin tissue.

Which Wounds/Incisions are suitable for closure using derma+flex® QS ™ ?
All soft tissue wounds with easily approximated edges with little/no tension,
areas difficult to close with sutures e.g. ear/nose.

Are subcutaneous sutures required?
Not necessary for wounds under 5cm in length.
However, it depends on surgeon’s preference and clinical judgment.
For wounds greater than 7 to 10 cm and penetrating deeper than the dermis layer, subcutaneous sutures will be required to reduce the tension on the skin.

How long does derma+flex® QS ™ stay bonded?
The adhesive is shed in approximately in 5-10 days.

What is the maximum length of wound closed by one (0.7 ml) derma+flex® QS ™ tube?
One tube (0.7 ml) of derma+flex® QS ™ is enough to close up 30cm in wound length, even in two layers.

What is the shelf life of derma+flex® QS ™?
The shelf life is 18 months from the date of manufacture.

Is derma+flex® QS ™ dressing water resistant?
Yes, it is waterproof and shower friendly. Patients can resume daily hygiene
activities shortly after application.

Are dressing required after derma+flex® QS ™ application?
Not recommended. derma+flex® QS ™ acts like an occlusive, waterproof dressing and maintains closure of the wound.
If a secondary bandage is used, do not apply to the adhesive area until it is completely dry.

What are the advantages of derma+flex® QS ™ over what I currently use?
Unlike butyl monomer products, derma+flex® QS ™ is not brittle, is flexible and has minimal exothermic effect.
No Cracking or Breaking.
Cosmetically appealing after the wound is healed.
Q11:
Can derma+flex® QS ™ film be removed if necessary?
Yes, petroleum jelly or acetone can carefully be applied to the film to help loosen
the bond. Peel off the film, do not pull the skin apart.
Alternatively, use a thick gauze soaked in warm water to dampen the site until
the film is softened and can be peeled off easily.

Can derma+flex® QS ™ be used in high skin tension areas or across areas of increased skin tension, such as knuckles, elbows or knees?
Can be used if the joint are immobilised during the skin healing period or skin tension has been removed by application of another wound closure device (e.g. sutures, skin staples, or adhesive wound closure strips).

Is derma+flex® QS ™ safe to used to close wounds on the scalp?
May be used for scalp wounds but such areas are to be properly prepared and taken care to prevent trapping hair in the wounds.

Is there any major complications?
Wound dehiscence and/or infection of wound site may occur.
Although this is very unlikely so long as aseptic techniques in application are followed.

No reports of allergies have been made.
